What We Do
We empower communities through comprehensive safety programs, professional certifications, and proactive drowning prevention initiatives designed for lasting impact.
Our Founding Story
AOAP was established as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization under the IRS in 2011. It was started by a small group of individuals within the aquatics industry who had been involved in various aspects of aquatics for many years.
AOAP gave out our first life jacket and swim lesson grants in 2011 as well and continue to do so.
AOAP held its first AOAP Conference in 2012 in Austin, TX. It has grown exponentially over the past 13+ years. We work with numerous partners to offer a one-stop shop for aquatic professionals. We also partner with various aquatic safety groups.
We offer many other educational programs, as well as our FREE Drowning Prevention Program, which includes a portion for children and a portion for parents/caregivers. There are downloadable PowerPoint presentations, flyers, etc. as well as numerous PSAs.
AOAP has a “Water Watcher by AOAP” program that consists of 3 PSAs and 3 children’s books as well as “Water Watcher by AOAP” laminated cards.
