Adaptive Aquatics

Empowering individuals with special needs through safe, effective, and inclusive aquatic programs. Our mission is to ensure every person has the opportunity to thrive in the water.

What is Adaptive Aquatics?

Adaptive aquatics (sometimes known as adapted aquatics) is a specialized field within aquatics that provides safe, enjoyable, and effective swim lessons and aquatic therapy for individuals with physical, cognitive, sensory, or behavioral challenges.

By modifying traditional teaching methods to meet the unique needs and abilities of each participant, these inclusive aquatic programs offer individualized instruction. This approach empowers individuals with diverse needs to experience the therapeutic, recreational, and fitness benefits of being in the water, fostering independence, skill development, and water safety.

Who Can Benefit From Adaptive Aquatics?

Adaptive aquatics improves accessibility to water-based activities, opening-up a world of possibilities for those who might otherwise struggle in a typical aquatic environment. The personalized nature of adaptive aquatics makes it particularly beneficial for individuals with conditions such as: Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, anxiety, cerebral palsy, motor delays, and other learning, developmental or physical disabilities.

Adaptive Aquatics Education for Professionals

Recognizing the importance of water safety and swim skills for all, we’ve joined forces with Swim Angelfish, a global leader in adaptive aquatics.

Our endorsement of their comprehensive online adaptive courses supports aquatic professionals in earning certifications in teaching adaptive swimming and aquatic therapy through a provider we trust.

By gaining these skills, professionals are empowered to adapt their aquatic programs, enabling more individuals with special needs to participate in life-saving swim lessons and enhancing water safety for everyone.
